Hello fellow movie-goers!

I’ve noticed that I can’t rely on movie critics for deciding on whether I should see a particular movie. Sometimes I agree with what is said about a movie and then there are other times I don’t understand why they found a particular really bad or really good. The site I use to read movie reviews is RottenTomatoes.com because they provide their movie ratings based on what many critics had to say. They also have user ratings which I find, more often than not, a better indication of whether the movie is worth seeing. One of the difficulties of selecting movies based on reviews is that my expectations are quite likely very different than those of a critic. A critic who watches countless movies may get tired of seeing similar movies whereas I will only see a very small fraction of the movies that come out and not recognize similarities with other movies. I also find that my mood determines whether or not I will like a movie. If I’m not in the mood for a certain type of movie, no matter how good it is, it won’t get a glowing review from me. I try not to watch movies if I’m not in the mood for it but sometimes it is unavoidable.
